4-H AIRE

WHAT IS AIRE? AIRE is an outstanding opportunity for older youth to prepare for filling out college applications, making a resume, and having job interviews.

AIRE also known as Application, Interview, Resume & Essay is a 4-step process by which youth are chosen to attend National events such as National Congress, National Conference, and International Leadership Conference.

All applications must be postmarked by May 17, 2010. If they are being hand delivered, they must be in the office by 4:30 on the same day.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? Any youth ages 14-18. Age is determined by age as of January 1 of the current year. Youth ages 11-13 aspiring to participate in the AIRE program are encouraged to participate this year in a non-competitive “Interview” process. Mock interviews will be held during the competitive AIRE interview’s on Monday of 4-H Congress (July 19, 2010). Note: A separate room and panel of judges will be used to support the younger youth.
We encourage any 4-H’er (age 11-13) who aspires to participate in the AIRE program to register and participate in this new non-competitive mock interview process. It will be a fun learning experience. See: Mock Interview Application (due May 17, 2010).

If you would like to learn more about AIRE, there will be an informational meeting for youth and adults at the Extension Office on Wednesday, May 5th from 5:30 -6:30 pm. Registration deadline – April 28th. Please contact the Extension Office to register. If you would like more information but cannot attend the meeting, please contact Amy at (336) 372-5597 or amy_lucas@ncsu.edu
