31st Annual Fur, Fish 'N Game Rendezvous

Fur, Fish ’N Game Camp is designed to give participants a better understanding of our natural resources and how we interact with them. The camp is limited to 85 campers in order to ensure that each camper has an
opportunity to participate and interact in a very personalized setting.

Campers will have the opportunity to:
  • Gain Hunter Safety Certification while learning about firearm safety for the field and home. 
  • Study wildlife and forests as renewable resources 
  • Learn about fishing and aquatic biology 
  • Study hunting as a viable wildlife management practice 
  • Gain knowledge useful in formulating an environmental ethic 
  • Practice outdoor recreation skills such as archery, riflery, canoeing, orienteering, and fishing 

Other classes and activities include retriever training, swimming, snake identification, outdoor-based first aid, ropes course, birds of prey, and taxidermy .

State 4-H Horse Artistic Expression

The State 4-H Horse Artistic Expression entry forms are now available.  Because there have been issues with the 4-H Horse Program website, Rockingham County 4-H has linked all the forms on their web site under the heading - "2014 NC 4-H Horse Artistic Expression Entry Forms".  http://rockingham.ces.ncsu.edu/categories/4-h-youth-development/
There are 10 contest entry forms listed from craft to short story.

All entries have to be postmarked by May 1st.



2014 4-H Horsemanship Camp - Millstone

June 15 - 21

Must have an acceptable horse

The 2014 4-H Horsemanship Camp will be held on June 15-21, 2014 at Millstone 4-H Center. This rustic camp is located in Richmond County near Ellerbe.  Improve your horsemanship skills while having fun with other 4-H'ers. Advanced riders can learn new and better horsemanship skills and showing techniques. A highly qualified camp staff will introduce the beginning rider to the basics of horsemanship. Special features of the camp include educational lectures, riding lessons, trail rides and training demonstrations in addition to traditional camp activities.

NC 4-H Horticulture Contest


The 2014 North Carolina 4-H Horticulture Contest will be Saturday, May 3rd at 12:00pm in Kilgore Hall on the campus of NC State University,registration is free and lunch is provided!  Teams and individuals can register by contacting the Extension Office.  You must register by April 16th.  This year's winning state Senior Team will be eligible to receive scholarships attend the National Junior Horticultural Association's annual convention in Lexington, Kentucky (October 10-13).  Any and all other plant-loving friends are also welcome to attend.
