Food Show Success!!

The District Food Show was a great success with over 30 entries from Alleghany, Surry, Wilkes and Yadkin Counties. It was a fun filled day with plenty of food and activities including how to make centerpieces, place card holders, making your own hot chocolate mix, cake decorating, food bingo and tissue paper flower making. Great job to Victoria Hall, Northwest District President, who finished with a Blue Ribbon for her Blueberry Cream Tart. If you are interested in learning more about Food Show or participating in a local food show, be watching upcoming newsletters for dates and times.

District Horse Bowl

The Northwest District Horse Bowl was held on Saturday, February 16th at the Rockingham County Extension Office. There were nine junior teams, two mixed teams and two senior teams competing. Our Alleghany Junior Team included Kacey Caudill, Kallie Dalton, Faith Reeves, Sydney Jones, Team Captain - Katelyn Hearl and Team Coach-Stacy Adams. These young ladies did a fabulous job and were up against some stiff competition. Good job to all of them for the tremendous amount of hard work and effort that went into practicing and competing. Thanks also to all the parents and volunteers that helped with practices and that made the long trip to Rockingham.
