Ashe 4-H Target Shooting Club


The next Ashe 4-H Target Shooting club meeting will be September 26th at the Wildlife Club in Laurel Springs at 6 pm.

Rowan County Open Horse Show

Rowan County Open Horse Show will be held October 15, 2011

English, Western & Gaited Divisions

(High Points for each Division and Class Category)

Open to the public - 4-H membership not required to participate


Ellis Park Event Center

Start time: 9 AM
Gates open at 8 AM

Costs: $5 per class or $45 for 10 or more classes

Spectators: FREE

Burke County Fair : Open Horse Show


The Burke County Fair will be holding an Open Horse Show on Saturday Oct. 15th at the Burke County Fairgrounds.

Show registration will begin at 10 a.m. and the show will start at 1 p.m. The show will take place during the fair so their will be plenty of concessions available.

All proceeds from this show benefit Burke County 4-H. This show is open to all ages and all NC residents.

LAST DAY TO ENJOY THE FAIR


Today is the last day to come out and enjoy the Alleghany County Ag. Fair. Gates open at 12 PM with the District Dairy Show beginning at 3 PM, petting zoo and carnival opens at 4 PM (unlimited ride bands are $18 / individual tickets also available), Lawnmower Race starts at 5 PM followed by fireworks. Alleghany County Ag. Fair


Exciting things going on a the Fair tonight. Kid's night and petting zoo starts at 5:30 with fun activities for kids of all ages. Carnival at 6 and 4-H kids Cornhole tournament starting @ 6:30. Don't miss out on the great food and fun!

Alleghany County Ag. Fair


The 24th annual Alleghany County Agricultural Fair starts tomorrow, August 22. Tomorrow we will be accepting entries into the Exhibition Building from 12 pm - 6 pm the the Emerson Black Building. There are both youth and adult categories with over 70 categories for youth and more than 400 categories for adults. This is when youth and adults can enter their favorite picture, prettiest flower, most unusual vegetable or best Lego construction for competition in our Exhibition Building.

We will also be having a horse show beginning at 6 pm. Come out an enjoy the fun.

Show begins at 10:00 am

Registration: $5 per class or $20 to show all day; $2 for stick horse class. For full class list click here.

NOTICE: A current negative Coggins Test will be required for all horses at the gate.

Science Fair Workshop


There will be a science fair workshop on Monday, September 19, 2011 from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm in the 2nd floor conference room of the County Office Building (90 S. Main St.). April Dilllon, 4-H Agent in Lincoln County, will be the instructor. The workshop is open to youth, parents, volunteers and educators. You will learn about the science fair process and do several hands on-experiments. This workshop will give you all the tools you need to get started on a great project for the district science fair to be held in January.

You must register by: Wednesday, September 14th.

Governor's Page Program

North Carolina 4-H is excited to offer the opportunity to our 4-H'ers to serve as a Governor's Page once again this year during National 4-H Week - October 3-7, 2011. So we are very excited to have the opportunity for our 4-H'ers. I have been given 8 slots for Pages this year so get those applications in quick!

Each applicant must be between the ages of 15 and 18 years old, and in good academic standing with their schools.

All applications must be submitted by August 26th so please see the application if you are interested. If you need more information on the program and specific requirements, please see their website at:
